How does one take the film off of a DVD and place it onto my hard drive for a project on a Mac?

Here’s my reason for asking this. I want to start performing movie reviews on YouTube of pathetic, cheap, and God-awful movies that have been forgotten about. (ex. The Incredible Mr. Limpet, Where the Red Fern Grows 2, and anything in the Wal-Mart $5 bin). What I want to do is place footage of the film along with the review to show how bad the movie truly is. It isn’t enough to just talk about a movie if the audience doesn’t understand what you are saying. I have tried a program called MacTheRipper, but it doesn’t seem to actually give me the footage, but copy the extras of the DVD in a format that I cannot use.
I have iMovie for clipping and working with footage, and the camera for my own face. I would rather not just use a video camera on the computer screen while the movie is playing for footage. Is there a way to place footage of a movie onto my Mac in a format that I can use in iMovie to clip?

P.S. My profile on YouTube is ClearanceBinMovies. I’m ready to go, I just need the film.

I love Johnny Depp’s acting but this is annoying- I love The Incredible Mr. Limpet with Don Knotts and even have it on dvd. and I bet Tim Burton is doing it- I’d love to scream to him- stop doing remakes of perfectly fine classics- what’s he going to do next- chitty chitty bang bang? I mean if it’s ain’t broken- leave it alone LOL

I like johnny depp and tim burton films like the next guy but this film is better left alone

How else could we have beaten the Nazis in the Battle of the Atlantic? I’d like to see you explain that one away, atheyeast, and don’t say “No evidence” because that is such a cop-out!

What movies have you seen ………………?

at a drive-in theater? As a child, I saw Bambi, Mr. Limpet, Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Cinderella. As a teen, a friend and I saw Patton and something else I don’t remember. The drive-in theater was a great cheap family entertainment, especially if you took your own snacks rather than buying them there. Unfortunately, they are for the most part long gone. Do you remember any of the movies you saw at a drive-in?
