Z Special Unit Colour Training Film – Limpet Mine

This is a sneak preview of our historic, WWII Z-Special Unit Training Film. No dates appear on the reels, but we believe the film was made circa 1942 at the Fraser Commando School on Fraser Island in Queensland. This video shows the Type 6 Rigid Limpet Mine. These devices were used by SOE, Commandos, the OSS and of course, Australia’s own answer to SOE – Z-Special Unit, also known as Z-Force. Limpets were usually fired with an acetone/cellulose timer rather than the detonating cord seen here …
