yes the movie where the guy falls in the movie and turns into the cartoon fish! incredible mr. limpet gosh i feel so old! lol. no one heard of this movie! it was my favorite movie as a kid!
My family went to the drive-in to see this when my sister and I were about 10 and 12, respectively. We enjoyed it very much. When it finally appeared on TV~which was quite a wait back in the days before even cable was available and no one could imagine movie channels~we watched it each time that we could.
I saw part of it recently and would like to watch it again, having not seen it for at least 20 years or more. It seemed as funny, clever and entertaining as I recalled, which is saying a lot for a 44-year-old movie, isn’t it?
Just in case anyone is curious about it, here’s some information:
Based on the novel by Theodore Pratt, this quaint fantasy leads the viewer from real-life to a spectacular animated deep-sea adventure. Henry Limpet (Don Knotts), a bespectacled, milquetoast bookkeeper, loves his pet fish so much that he longs to be one. When Henry’s wish comes true and he’s turned into a talking fish, the simple ocean life he’d envisioned proves more exciting than mundane.
Also in the cast are Carole Cook, Jack Weston, Andrew Duggan, Oscar Beregi Jr. … Nazi admiral (as Oscar Beregi(, Jr.), Elizabeth MacRae (voice), and Paul Frees (voice).
TRIVIA:
The premiere was shown in a huge underwater theater at Weeki Wachee Springs, Florida! // The Springs is famous for its mermaids~well, women dressed as mermaids.
